22.10.2021 Headteachers Letter
25 October 2021 (by David Brayshaw (D.Brayshaw))
I hope that you and your families are safe and well.
As we come to the end of our half term, I would like to take the time to thank you all for the way that you have contributed to such a successful return to “normal school”.
Since our return in September we have had a return to a full Cardinal Heenan experience, with lessons taking place in specialised classrooms, an extensive extra-curricular offer is now in full swing and we have seen the emergence of new student leaders, both in our prefects and the wider school council.
We are fully committed to making sure that every child is given every opportunity and I would encourage all children to actively engage with as many clubs, societies and activities as possible – please see our website for details of what is on offer.
As many of you will be aware the COVID transmission rate in Leeds remains high. The latest infection rates across the country remain high and we must all continue to do what we can to protect each other and our communities. In school we currently have around one in twenty children who are isolating at home as a result of a positive test and although we have been very fortunate to see infection rates remaining relatively low in recent weeks we must always reflect, evaluate and respond to our changing situations.
As a result of the high infection rates across the City from Tuesday 2 November, I would like to ask all staff and students to return to wearing appropriate face coverings when in communal areas such as corridors, on school buses etc. If we all wear our face coverings in such spaces, we are all supporting our desire to keep our community safe and reduce the need to take further restrictive actions. This message has been shared with the children today, along with an explanation as to why we are taking this step.
Please ensure that when school reopens for children on Tuesday 2 November that your child has an appropriate face covering and please also continue to use the Lateral Flow Test kits twice a week to ensure that we continue to protect each other.
I hope that you have a lovely half term and enjoy a well-earned rest.
