Five Year 9 Cardinal Heenan students recently took up their places on a Mathematics Masterclass series run by the Royal Institution at the University of York. Ri Mathematics Masterclasses are series of workshops which are led by experts from industry, academia and education. They offer students in-depth investigations of topics in Mathematics combining theory with interactive exploration.
The students greatly enjoyed the first session, which was led Dr Alet Roux of the University and was entitled “Making Money with Mathematics”. The students enjoyed spending time on the University campus, mixing with like-minded students from other schools, and using degree-level Mathematics practically to consider the implications on finances.
