Immunisations Year 8 HPV letter to parents

9 September 2019 (by Mark Burton (M.Burton))

Due to the success of the HPV vaccination in significantly reducing HPV related cancers and genital warts we are delighted to inform you that the vaccine will now be offered to boys as well as girls. This will reduce the risk of other cancers that can affect men, such as cancer of the anus, penis, head and neck, which are also linked to infection with certain types of the HPV virus. The vaccination is given as a course of 2 injections over a 6 to 12 month period. This is part of the NHS childhood immunisation programme.
