FAQs

Where can I find the most up to date information from school?

The website now has a link at the top of the page: 'School closure'.

Information from the Headteacher will be found on this link and includes information for parents/carers and students.

Should my child be coming into school?

If you can keep your children at home please do. They will be in a safer environment. The only reason a child should be in school is if they would be unsafe at home. This is a confusing time for us all and we are all having to make adjustments to our normal lives. Please, before you consider sending your child to school consider the potential increased risk of sending them to school for themselves and others. Child care in school should ONLY be requested as an emergency.

Please refer to the following link https://www.cardinalheenan.com/school-closure/key-workers-information and the Headteachers letter 20.3.20 for more information.

What support should I be giving my child at home?

Teachers will be setting work via google classroom. Information on this service can be found by following this link. We want the home learning to be valuable and therefore will be populated over the course of the week commencing 23 March.

There is useful information for parents provided in the following link, which relates to the wellbeing of the children as well as the work they may be able to do: https://www.cardinalheenan.com/school-closure/resources-for-parents-carers

My child is in Year 11, what are the implications for their GCSEs?

School will be following the procedures that will be put in place from Ofqual and we will update parents/carers once we have clarification. A clear message from Government is that despite the cancellation of GCSE examinations, no children who should be sitting their GCSEs this summer will be disadvantaged by this decision.

The most recent update from the Headteacher on 3 April can be found in the News section of the website.

Teachers are still setting work for students in Year 11 that students can access when they log into google classrooms.

My child is entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), what provisions are being put into place by Leeds Schools?

The first vouchers should have arrived in parents/carers email account on 2 April. These vouchers will appear weekly but term time only. For more information follow this link.

Edenred (the company delivering the vouchers) are experiencing delays to their service at the moment therefore you may not receive the voucher on 2 April. The voucher should arrive as soon as Edenred have resolved the issue. We will update this page as soon as we have more information.

UPDATE 9 April: Codes that were due to be delivered on 2 April should now have been delivered. Please check the 'junk' section of your email account if you can't find it in the main inbox.

During the Easter holidays there are no vouchers. Leeds Catering are providing pack lunches for collection in more convenient locations (hub schools) around the city.
