Mr P McQuillen-Strong

For over 20 years I worked as a teacher and now Headteacher in Leeds. After studying at TASC I began my teaching career at St Andrew’s CPS (Now Immaculate Heart of Mary CPS) before moving to work at St Augustine’s CPS. I am Currently Headteacher at Holy Family CPS in Armley and I have also served as Headteacher at St Paul’s CPS and St Philip’s CPS.

I live in North Leeds with my wife and three daughters and we are part of the St John Mary Vianney parish. My daughters have all attended St Paul’s CPS and two are now part of the Cardinal Heenan community. When I was asked to consider being a foundation governor for Cardinal Heenan I jumped at the chance. I am passionate about improving education for children and working as a governor of the high school means I gain a new perspective.

I believe that I bring a number of skills to my position as a governor, gained in the many and varied posts held during my working life in schools.  I have a good knowledge of teaching and learning, finance, child protection, HR and pupil engagement. I am passionate about delivering a curriculum and environment that allows students to be happy and achieve what they desire.

As a keen sportsman I have always strived to engage students in physical activity and team sports as I believe they help to develop the whole child and give students skills and experiences that other areas of school are not able to do.
