This half term’s common good update was written by Niamh, a Common Good Influencer in Year 9.
The Common Good project is a way for us to put Catholic Social Teaching into action. We do this in many ways – we help to clean up in our local area; sing and sign at Pennyfields School; hampers for refugees and others less fortunate than ourselves; helping at events at Brandon House Care Home; running after school clubs at St Urban’s and so much more.
Our main event this half term has been the Afternoon Tea with Leeds Irish Health and Homes, where we served refreshments and spoke to visitors. Some of our students also led the music and dancing.
With so many students helping out and bringing new ideas, like having a school vegetable garden, school compost bins and so much more, there’s always something new to get involved with. That’s what I love about the Common Good Project = there are so many opportunities to use our talents to help others and make our community even stronger.
