Common Good Influencers – June 2025

Common Good Influencers – June 2025

Our Common Good Influencers continue to lead on community action in school. Their weekly visits to Brandon House and Penny Fields School have been ongoing throughout the year and 170 students from all year groups have been involved with these. We have also strengthened our links with St Urban’s Primary School, joining them in litter picking around our local area and supporting their extra curricular sports clubs as Sports Leaders.

A group of Year 9 students also travelled to the Montague Burton Resource Centre community hub with Leeds Irish Health and Homes to serve refreshments at a social lunch. Students enjoyed dancing, singing and chatting with the LIHH community and gained some fantastic insights into the experiences of the Irish community across Leeds.

We are still collecting empty crisp packets to be recycled into blankets for homeless people in need in our local area, as well as recycling electrical items to avoid them going into landfill.

During this half term the Common Good Influencers have organised a book drive. They invited all members of our community to bring a book to school to be gifted to someone else.

Next year, we are planning to strengthen our links with Horsforth Town of Sanctuary, with each year group taking the responsibility for collecting donated items each half term. Horsforth Town of Sanctuary is linked to Leeds City of Sanctuary and aims to make our city a place which is proud to welcome and include people seeking asylum and refugees into its community, so that wherever people seeking sanctuary go – from schools to business and community groups – they will encounter people who welcome them and understand why they are here.
