Debating and Public Speaking

Debating and Public Speaking

Our debating society are preparing for a range of local and national competitions. Alongside studying a range of controversial and morally complex cases for the Ethics Cup, they are also preparing to debate the merits of a tourist tax in busy cities, as well as preparing speeches about the role of NATO in our modern world. They have also found the time to discuss the changing position of the arts, with one student preparing a speech entitled ‘Cinema is dead – and we’ve killed it’ and others preparing speeches about their favourite artwork – ranging from album covers to graffiti – for Leeds University’s Discover Articulation competition.
