Mrs D O’Connor

I was delighted to be appointed as a Foundation Governor to Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School by the Diocese of Leeds in 2020.

I currently hold the role of Student Support Manager at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, where I have worked since 1989. I like to think that these 30 plus years working in Catholic education, have enabled me to acquire both the knowledge and skills to support, steer and guide young people in their educational and life journey. I hope to utilise these skills to help me support the school community.

I am from a nursing background which naturally steered me in the direction of pastoral support. Within my role I have responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection and am the deputy DSL for the College. I work closely with Children That Are Looked After and those students who find themselves living independently. I manage Student Discretionary and Bursary funding for our student body, and I also work alongside the Assistant Principal in Admissions and Enrolment.

During both my work and personal life, I have had links with Cardinal Heenan High School as my daughter was a pupil at the school 20 years ago. My family and I are practicing Catholics and we are part of the St John Mary Vianney parish. I look forward to being able to be part of the school community and will do all I can to support it moving forward.
