Year 10 Next Steps

Year 10 Next Steps

It was lovely to see so many Year 10 students and their families at their Next Steps evening last week. Throughout the evening, students were guided through the variety of pathways available to them when they leave Cardinal Heenan.

We were lucky to be joined by Wendy, our independent careers advisor, who was able to speak to students and their families about the support available in school. Wendy is available in school for students who wish to talk through their options. See Mr Gaffey to arrange this.

Mr Kelly introduced students to the range of pathways to them when they leave Cardinal Heenan. Ms Stockton-Pitt and Ms Thomas also talked to students about active revision techniques and provided practical ways to use the principles of cognitive science to support and enhance their revision. As well as advice on effective revision techniques, students were given a range of strategies to support wellbeing during exams.

Students received their mock exam timetables; a suggested revision timetable and any revision guides they had pre-ordered to support their revision. School staff also shared a timeline of events leading up to their examinations in Year 11. These messages have been echoed in Year 10 tutor groups this week. Thank you to the students and their families for their engagement and enthusiasm throughout the evening.
