Report written by Niamh:
The game started with strong sides from both schools. Abbey Grange were very fast, moving quickly down the court towards their two tall shooters. However, Honor from CHCHS was able to hold some tricky one-leg balances after interceptions. Cardies started the second quarter with the first centre pass but Abbey made a great interception and scored a turn over goal. However, Cardies pulled it back with some clean shots from Tilly. We communicated well and managed to convert a great interception from Anna into a shot. As the pressure increased, the game improved with fast ‘play and pass’ movements. With half the game done, both teams had a quick team talk and Cardies had to call in reinforcements following an unexpected injury to our goalkeeper which forced a shift in our defensive positions. Abbey’s attack was stronger than ever thanks to their well-drilled, direct passing. Going into the final quarter, Abbey had some great tip offs but Cardies had a great passing pattern building from defence to attack. After the final whistle, both teams shook hands and chose their player of the match, which for Cardies was Tilly. At the end of a fast, interesting game, the final score was 15-6 to Abbey Grange.
